1. Wash Hands
Before you put on the cream, First of all wash your hands or clean with soap and water. In doing this, it removes bacteria and grime from your skin so that they have less chance of getting into the baby’s delicate skin, reducing her chances for unnecessary irritation or infection.
2. Clean the Skin of Your Baby
Wet the area of your baby’s skin where you have decided to apply the cream with tap water. Wipe off any dirt or impurity on this part using a soft cloth and water, and make sure all that’s left is clean. Finally pat dry with towel, rather than letting it remain wet.
- Use a Very Small Quantity
The amount of the baby cream used should be of the size of a pea. Take a small amount of the baby cream, about the size of a pea, and warm it between your fingers. Since baby creams come with a lot of concentrates, generally a little dab is all that’s needed. This ensures that you don’t rub your hands against each other exerting too much force.
- Massage in the Cream with Care
The cream should be applied to the baby’s skin, as gently as can be, in a circular motion. In addition to covering sheathing areas like the arms, neck, and cheeks, do not forget the dry prone areas such as the elbows, knees and the cheeksa. There are to be no rough areas and no rubbing and no wincing even on sensitive skin.
- Do Not Put Too Much Cream
A thin layer of a cream would ordinarily be enough and should remain sufficient for use. Combat the desire of applying excessive cream which gives a feeling that the skin is overly oily and clogged. Fight the urge to put on clothes or dress the baby until the cream is out of the surfaces because the skin, though absorbs these ingredients, takes several minutes to soak in deeper.
- It is mandatory to apply the cream after all bathing activities have been completed.
However, these results are best achieved if the cream in question is applied after having a bath when the skin is still a bit wet. Once again preventing the skin from feeling deprived and helping the skin of the baby stay moist. It is a lot easier and advisable for babies who have dry or sensitive skin.
